{made the cover!}

August 24th, 2018

I began making furniture back in 2015 when I had some time on my hands and we were fresh back from a vacation to Alaska. Going back to Houston from Alaska was painful, not gonna lie. You’re going from a place that’s gorgeous everywhere you look to a place that is the polar opposite. Long story short I wanted to bring some of that beauty into our home I TX so I began to make furniture for our relatively bare house. Fast forward to today and I’ve made the cover of Homemade Business magazine with my original wall art and furniture pieces. {home sweet home}

August 22nd, 2018

It’s been an incredible last 2 months. I’ve been harping about moving back to WV for 6 years now and the moment finally came on June 18th. After 6 long years in the Houston heat, utter flatness, and complete lack of natural splendor, we finally got on a plane and headed back home to our mountain state. I’m admittedly one of the worst bloggers of all time and notoriously get around to posting when I get around to posting. This post is one of those kinda deals, clearly, since it’s 2 months later. In that time span there has been so much change in our lives that it’s kept me swamped with projects from the moment we stepped foot in WV. Firstly, I got a truck! Growing up in WV I never ever thought I would be that guy. I associated them with rednecks and ho-downs. Now having all grown up and becoming a furniture building man, I have an actual need for one. I’m not the guy who won’t put a piece of wood in the back of his truck for fear that it might scuff  the bed. Hauling is what I do. Secondly, we installed an awesome cathedral barn wood ceiling in our house! I had my dad and brother come up for the better part of a week and we got it done, all by ourselves. Now all that’s left is to get serious about re-establishing my brand in this state again. I know it takes time and in the meantime I have some big plans for a studio. Stay tuned!

{robin & joel’s snowshoe wedding!}

June 12th, 2018

Of all the places I’ve shot in WV Snowshoe holds a special place in my heart. Most of my shoots there are in the snow and when you live in TX that’s something you don’t see very often. More often than not I end up doing a day after session with the couples on the slopes and it’s an awesome time. Nothing gets attention like a bride and groom in full wedding dress snowboarding down the mountain while their photog is also snowboarding with them with camera in hand.

{miriah & ryan tie the knot}

June 12th, 2018

This wedding is an end of an era for me here in TX. It’s the last wedding I’ll shoot as a TX resident. What better place and people to top it all off than in Austin with Miriah and Ryan. I’ve known Miriah for at least like 12 years now and pretty much the entire time I’ve known her she’s always said that she wanted me to shoot her wedding. Who would have known that it would just so happen while we were in Houston and she was also doing her fellowship in Houston, where she just so happened to meet Ryan. The stars aligned and here’s a little peek into that awesome weekend!

{get ready wv!}

January 24th, 2018

Over all the years that I’ve shot portraits of families, kids, babies, pets, whatever, there’s one thing I’ve never seen any other shooter do. That something is session videos. It all started with my own baby when she was an itty bitty. We wanted to capture those days, not only in awesome photos, but in something that would really take us back. I taught myself how to edit video and next thing you know I was shooting tons of vids and putting together some pretty cool stuff. Even editing the vids was really fun for me. The whole process was cool and when you added music it really made it come together and just pop into life. It wasn’t long after I made the first one that I started another and it wasn’t long after that that I decided why keep this to myself.

I wanted to do the same for other people that might want the same thing for their little ones. Who wouldn’t? It’s a priceless keepsake that you’ll always have to hold onto. One day I popped a message about it on facebook and viola, next thing you know I’m shooting them. It was just as fun shooting them for other people as it was doing them of our own little girl.

When it comes to the shoot itself I try to do all of the shooting in a single day. Preferably, between naps is the best time to shoot. I can run around with them and capture all of those little moments that make your day to day with your baby totally unique. It’s the little things that make each vid one of a kind. We can even go to another location that your baby loves, or you want to take them to experience to get their reaction. All in all it takes about 3-4 hours of shooting time to get all of the footage I need to put something together.

Give me about 2-3 weeks to edit your vid and when it’s ready I’ll post it for ya online and you can download it right out of the gallery. There ya have it, one awesome and memorable vid of your little one(s)! All that’s left for you to do now is to drop me a line and book a session of your own. You also need to tell everyone you know about these sessions too! You can’t keep something so cool to yourself.

We’re about to make the big move, at the latest by mid June, and I’m going to be throwing feelers out there relatively soon for pre-bookings. I won’t be able to do a lot of them at one time like I do with a regular photo session because of the time it takes to edit the vids. So, spots are limited week to week. Keep an eye out for the feelers on facebook and jump on it when you get the chance. The shoots are awesome for babies of any age so whether you have a wee 1-2 month old or 2.5 year old it’s the perfect gift you can give yourself.
